What are endowments?

An investment in our future

As a private institution, University of La Verne relies on the contributions of donors rather than state funding. You make a difference in the life of a student today when you make a gift to the University of La Verne. When you establish an endowment, you make a difference forever. Endowment gifts create a ripple effect as one generation assists the next. Your endowment gift today will ensure future University of La Verne students become the leaders of tomorrow.

What is an endowment?

An endowment is similar to a permanent savings account made up of numerous individual funds. Your tax-deductible donation is not spent but instead carefully invested with other endowment donations to yield a steady, reliable source of income that never depletes. The more people give to the endowment, the more income is generated to support the future of La Verne. The endowment raises the prestige of the university; provides scholarships to talented and deserving students; attracts dedicated, senior level faculty through professorships; provides opportunities for student and faculty research; supports academic programs and student life activities; maintains our buildings and classrooms; and can sustain campus arts, community engagement and athletics.

Why give to the endowment?

A strong endowment fund demonstrates an institution's stability and competitiveness, and indicates the trust donors place in the fiscal responsibility of the administration. It allows institutions to engage in long-range financial planning with confidence, knowing the resources will be available to complete important future projects and expansion.

Make a difference for our future

You can make a gift to the university endowment, or establish an individual endowment to support the programs, colleges, and causes at La Verne that you care most about. An endowment may also be named to memorialize or honor a loved one, friend, colleague or teacher.
